Evaluation Model
Qualifying Test: Net Speed ≥ 35 WPM over 10 Minutes with ≤ 8% Maximum Mistakes
Chandigarh Administration Clerk recruitment typing tests are governed by the Chandigarh Administration Group 'C' (Clerk and Steno-Typist) (Common Cadre) Recruitment Rules and executed by UIAMS (University Institute of Applied Management Sciences), Panjab University. Candidates must type a physical printed hard copy passage into the on-screen editor at a minimum speed of 35 Net WPM in English over 10 minutes. 5 keystrokes count as one word, and mistakes are deducted directly from gross speed (Mistakes / 10). Under statutory rules, any candidate committing more than 8% mistakes is automatically disqualified regardless of typing speed. The spreadsheet and computer proficiency qualification cited in recruitment notices is verified via an 80-hour ICT Computer Concept (CCC) certificate during Document Verification, while the physical skill test is strictly continuous prose typing.
Net Speed is calculated as Gross WPM minus error deduction: Net WPM = (Total Strokes / 50) − (Total Mistakes / 10). To qualify, your final Net Speed must be at least 35.0 WPM.
Under the statutory Chandigarh Administration recruitment rules, no candidate shall qualify if they commit more than 8% mistakes. Even if your net speed is 40+ WPM, committing over 8% errors results in immediate disqualification.
Backspace is restricted to the current active word only. You cannot use arrow keys or backspace across spacebars to edit previously typed words.
No. The statutory Common Cadre Ministerial recruitment rules mandate a minimum typing speed of 35 WPM in English on computer.
UIAMS conducts the skill test in paper-to-screen format. You receive a printed passage on physical paper and type it into a computer terminal without on-screen highlighting (blind mode).
