How Scoring Works

SSC typing tests use a unique Full Error and Half Error scoring model. Full errors include omission of words, substitution of words, or addition of extra words. Half errors include spelling typos, spacing errors, punctuation errors, and capitalization mismatches. Total errors = Full Errors + (Half Errors / 2).

Practice Tips

  • ›Since backspace and arrow keys are fully allowed, monitor your progress and correct spelling errors immediately.
  • ›Practice typing continuously. Avoid looking down at your keyboard; focus entirely on the on-screen display panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I navigate anywhere in the text using arrow keys?

Yes. Unlike state exams, the SSC typing test allows you to use both backspace and arrow keys to navigate back and correct mistakes anywhere in the paragraph during the active session.

What constitutes a 'Half Error' in SSC standards?

Spelling errors (inserting, deleting, or substituting letters), incorrect casing (e.g. typing 'the' instead of 'The'), and spacing errors (no space or extra spaces between words) are counted as half errors.
