How Scoring Works

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) JSA typing test is governed strictly by the official DDA notification formula: Net Speed (WPM) = [(Total Keystrokes ÷ 5) − (Mistakes × 10)] ÷ 10. Unlike SSC CHSL, DDA does NOT provide a 7% or 10% free error allowance. Every single error deducts 10 full words (50 strokes), which equals 1.0 WPM deducted from Gross Speed over 10 minutes. Candidates must achieve at least 35.00 Net WPM in English or 30.00 Net WPM in Hindi to qualify.

Practice Tips

  • ›Because each error deducts 1.0 WPM, accuracy is far more critical than speed. A candidate typing 42 WPM with 8 errors drops to 34 WPM and fails.
  • ›Practice typing with steady discipline and verify each sentence before moving on.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is typing speed calculated in the DDA JSA typing test?

Speed is computed using the official formula: Net Speed = [(Gross Strokes ÷ 5) − (Errors × 10)] ÷ 10. Each mistake deducts 10 words (1.0 WPM).

Is there a 7% or 10% error margin in DDA JSA typing?

No. The official DDA notification does not provide a percentage-based error margin. The 10-word penalty per mistake directly reduces net speed, requiring at least 35 Net WPM after all deductions.

Is backspace allowed in the DDA JSA typing test?

Yes, backspace and arrow key navigation are fully operational throughout the active 10-minute session.
