Evaluation Model
Qualifying Test (35 Net WPM English / 30 WPM Hindi · Restricted Backspace · 5% Free Buffer + 10-Word Penalty)
The ITBP Head Constable (Combatant Ministerial) typing skill test is conducted on computer terminals for 10 minutes. Candidates must attain a minimum qualifying speed of 35 Net WPM in English or 30 Net WPM in Hindi. Evaluation allows editing within the current active word, but once spacebar is pressed, the word is committed. Mistakes up to 5% of total gross words typed are exempted without penalty. Each mistake beyond the 5% threshold incurs a strict 10-word penalty deduction from gross words typed, reducing final speed by 1.0 Net WPM per excess error.
Candidates must achieve at least 35 Net WPM in English (10,500 KDPH) or 30 Net WPM in Hindi (9,000 KDPH) over the 10-minute test.
Backspace is restricted to the current active word. Once you press the spacebar to advance to the next word, you cannot navigate back to correct earlier text.
A 5% error buffer is allowed with zero penalty. For every mistake beyond 5%, 10 words (50 strokes) are deducted from your gross words typed.
