How Scoring Works

Military Engineer Services (MES) and Indian Army Command HQs recruit civilian Lower Division Clerks (LDC) and Storekeepers following official Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and SSC evaluation norms. Candidates must type a minimum of 1,750 key depressions in 10 minutes (equivalent to 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi). Error evaluation uses the SSC standard with half-mistake leniency for capitalization and punctuation. Candidates qualify if their gross speed meets 35 WPM and their error percentage does not exceed 7% (UR/EWS) or 10% (reserved categories).

Practice Tips

  • ›Prioritize completing the full 1,750-keystroke passage; hitting the volume benchmark with < 7% errors guarantees qualification.
  • ›Use backspace to correct spelling errors before proceeding to maintain high accuracy.
